Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the Tallest lighthouse in North America. It was moved from in original location back in 1999, because it was in danger of falling into the ocean.

The Red Stairs
268 steps to the top - talk about some serious exercize.....
The Lantern
Cape Hatteras Lighthouse "daymark" is a black and white spiral with a black top. It can be seen for miles out at sea in the day. A daymark is a special lighthouse "ID", no two daymarks are the same - that's what makes lighthouses so unique!
The Light
Since Cape Hatteras does'nt have it's original lens - it uses 2 aero beacons instead.

Fall 2005
Everyone from the lighthouse group I belong to anxiously waits to climb the tower. I was the first one to make it to the top - and after lunch I climbed it again! We all had such a great time that day.
